  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Mack D Rasmussen -- Why no Audio? : Just bought this ebook. Why no audio option like ALL THE OTHER SoT novels? I very much enjoy listening to these while sitting in traffic on my daily commute. Very disappointed that there was no Audio option for this one. ( Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2021 )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from burak yksel -- Meh at best. : I loved John French's Solar War in Siege series. I tell you this so you know i'm not biased against him. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2021 )
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Shan -- Too many irrelevant plot threads. : John French shouldn't have written this book. ( Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2021 )
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from Darrel Lewis -- All over the place... : I wanted to love this book. I would settle for liking it, but the book felt like the author had quite a few good ideas, but not the skill to pull them off. So much time and effort on side parts of the story, then a few lines summarizing other major events. The insight into Chaos and Imperial Leadership from book 1 just not there. • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Very dissapointing : I've been a huge fan of the series through the hours heresey and 60+ novels and side stories through to the siege of terra series now. This has been by far the most painful read. So much time spent on uninspiring newly introduced characters and pointless side storylines. So much time dedicated to explaining peoples feeling of falling, drowning, crushing hopelessness etc. We get it, the bad guys are winning, the defenders are sad. Got that thanks, can we move on now....... ( Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from James Shelton -- Amazing, reads just like the other books in the series and that's a good thing. : I feel like you can't really tell much of a difference between the authors styles in this series, which I like because all of the books are written perfectly in my opinion. At most difference, it's like reading the different versions of the gospels in the bible. That is the way I feel when reading these books, if you a true diehard warhammer 40k fan this series in about what started it all. Would not recommend reading until you've read the earlier books though, at least in the siege of terra series. One of my favorite all time books series. • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Eric Hanson -- Disappointing : I hate to say it but this book has been boring, uninteresting and in general just a disappointment. Even the illustrations are disappointing, and boring. I love French Solar War, but the only reason to read Mortis is that its a (boring) part of the Siege of Terra. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Justin Coates -- No Backward Step : Mortis walks, and the defenders of the Imperium rise to meet them. Witness the beginning of the end, as the Warp seeks to crack open the defenses of the Praetorian, while Ollanius and Grammaticus near the completion of their journeys through time and space. Horus’ victory seems assured, but what might the sons of the Lion accomplish to buy the defenders just a little more time? On the front lines, facing down gods and monsters, lonely men and women fight and die, giving in to despair...or, somehow, finding faith to carry on. • 2.0 out of 5 stars from David Springham -- A lumbering connector driving us towards the main event : Reading this book was like preparing for a smooth paddle down a tranquil river after the success of Saturnine, only to find out you’d be taking on an Olympic canoe slalom course. The book is a difficult read, jumping around and mixing the pace up just as you were getting into each section of narrative. No doubt this book was tough to write, having to drive us to the closing stages. A shame, but the worst entry in the series so far for me. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 4, 2021 )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Customer -- dull so dull : The other reviewers have said it all, parts of story I loved like the titan battles but their are pages and pages of waffel about characters you know and care nothing about in a sort of poetic acid trip. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 5, 2021 )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from lysander1 -- Worst so far : Pity. Overwritten, dull, overlong, pointless, dull, clumsy, dithering, aimless, waste of a good writer, padding, need to sell books, dull. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 4, 2021 )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from Duncan Owen -- Book lumbers like a Titan : I suspect this book was a challenge to write. It was certainly a challenge to read. So many sections had to be reread to understand what was happening. Important bits of the story )eg the breaching of the wall) are glossed over, whilst page after page is spent on pushing a variety of storylines I found myself not really caring about, I guess for human interest? But I don't read this books for the human interest. I read them for the scale; the fighting, the 40 (30)k ness of it all. And those bits I really struggled to follow. Bit disappointed. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Deusvult -- Long Overdue & very long for a 40K Novel : The final part of the Hersey is on its way. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 18, 2021 )
